Oat Cookies are light, crunchy, easy to make and so chocolatey!! These are my new favorite cookies.

I was getting so many requests for some healthy recipes from my readers and this Oat Cookies in chocolate flavour, are the first one in that series. Dark Chocolate is also healthy, right?!!
I can totally relate to the fact that during these days when this Pandemic has hit almost all the countries in the world, the one thing we all are trying to do is cooking and baking almost everything at our homes. It’s a good thing too because now we are more aware of what goes into our food and thus we all look for healthy alternatives in our food choices.
For this same reason and also because I wanted to use something which was lying in my fridge since long, I tried this recipe as an experiment and voila!! It came out just too perfect. I still can’t believe it, how easily I made these chocolate oat cookies and the fact that they got polished off in just few minutes by my kids…I am sure that it is indeed a great recipe. Do give it a try and thank me later!!

What are Oats?
Oats are one of the healthiest grains we have.
They are gluten-free and are known to lower the cholesterol.
Oats help in weight loss by giving you a feeling of being full for a long time.
They help to reduce the blood sugar level.
Oats are full of essential vitamins, minerals, fiber and anti-oxidants.
So in a nut-shell, oats are a kind of wonder grain, that is good to consume. To include it in our daily routine food would be a great source to get all the health benefits from it.

What are these Oat Cookies made of?
These oat cookies are the easiest cookies I have ever tried. I have used only 2 ingredients in it besides the leavening agents. These are Chocolate ganache and Oats. Yes, Just as simple as that!!
Few days back, I have made a chocolate cake with chocolate Ganache and some ganache was left over and was lying in my kitchen. My little one was eating the ganache just like that, everyday. So, I thought better to use it in a little healthy way and that’s when the idea of using oats came into mind. And it is indeed a great idea.
For cookies, we normally use flour, fat, sugar and leavening agents with flavours. Chocolate ganache had everything other than leavening agents and flour. So I just added those and made these yummylicious cookies.

Important Points for Oat Cookies
Oat cookies are easy to make. Here are some points to be kept in mind for these oat cookies.
Oats – I have used rolled oats for these chocolate oat cookies. They baked well and gave a good crunch to the cookies.
Ganache – I have used 55% dark chocolate ganache with 2:1 ratio of dark chocolate to cream. I did not add any sugar in it. The ganache was lightly sweet and I liked it that way. You can add any 1-2 tbsp or even a little more sugar in it. You can check out the ganache recipe in my blog. It is fairly easy and quick to make.
Leavening agents – Baking powder and baking soda are used as leavening agents in this oat cookies recipe.

Storing Oat Cookies
These cookies are crunchy and light. It is important to store them in a right way. The best is to let them cool off completely at the room temperature and then store in an air tight container.
If left out for too long, they will turn soggy and won’t have the crunch at all.

Method
1.Take chocolate ganache in a bowl and add oats to it. Mix them both very well.

2. Add baking powder and baking soda and mix these also very well in the cookies dough.
3. Grease your hands with some ghee and shape cookies. Keep them on a lined baking tray.

4. Bake them in a pre-heated oven at 170 °C for about 20 -23 min. Mine got done in 22 min. Once done do not remove them from the tray immediately. Wait for 5 min and then remove and keep them on a cooling rack until cooled completely at room temperature.
