Poha recipe is an easy and quick way to incorporate healthy food in our daily meals. It is a no oil recipe and gets ready in just few minutes.

Poha
Poha is basically a flattened rice. They are made by parboiling the rice and then they are flattened to make thin rice flakes. These rice flakes are then made by soaking them in water or milk.
Poha is a favorite breakfast dish across India. It is made in different ways like kanda poha, vegetable poha, poha cutlets etc.
This poha recipe that I am sharing in this blog is an easy, quick, healthy, no oil recipe. It literally takes less than 5 minutes to make. Only time required is for chopping few vegetables and it’s done.

This poha recipe is a quick snacks recipe. It is poha bhel.
Bhelpuri is an Indian street food. It is normally made with puffed rice, some dry savouries, onion, some different flavoured sauces, lemon etc.
This recipe of poha bhel is inspired from the dish of bhelpuri only. It is a street food which I had never tried before. Once while we were in Kota (Rajasthan), I had this from a street vendor and it was awesome. After that I started making it at home for a quick fix at snack time.
This recipe includes very less ingredients and you can easily customize it with anything, literally anything you like.

Important Points for Poha Recipe
1.Poha – For this recipe we we will take Poha which is not very big in size. We will soak poha. Please read below the correct way of soaking poha.
2.Peanuts – We will need peanuts for this recipe and we’ll roast them to avoid increasing calories by frying them. However, if you like fried peanuts then you can absolutely fry them in oil.
3.Vegetables – Vegetables like onion, potato, tomato, green chillies, coriander etc will be used in this recipe. You can add other vegetables of your choice which do not need cooking and can be eaten raw like carrots, cucumber etc.
4.Spices – Other than salt only spices added to this poha bhel are mint leaves powder and powdered sugar. You can add other spices like chat masala, black pepper powder, red chilli flakes etc in this poha recipe.
5.Sev – Sev is a dry savoury snacks made of gram flour in different shapes, mostly thin and long. In this recipe you can use any type of sev you like. I have added lemon sev which is sour and a bit spicy.

Ingredients
- Poha (flattened rice) – 1 cup
- Peanuts – 1/4 cup
- Potato – 1 boiled
- Tomato – 1, small/ medium
- Onion – 1 small
- Green Chilli – 2, finely chopped
- Fresh Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp, finely chopped
- Lemon – 1/2
- Lemon Sev (savoury gram flour snacks) – 1/4 cup
- Salt – as per taste
- Mint Leaves Powder – 1 tsp
- Powdered Sugar – 1 tbsp
Method
1.Keep poha in a sieve and then wash it 1-2 times with water. Keep it in the sieve and let all water de drained from it. Also the poha flakes will be soaked like this only. DO not add any more water to soak them. Just leave them in the sieve for sometime like 5-10 minutes.

2. In the meantime, let us chop the vegetables. Peal and cut boiled potato in cubes, finely chop onion, tomato, green chilies and fresh coriander leaves.

3.Dry roast the peanuts on a hot skillet just for 3-4 minutes. Remove the skin of peanuts once they cool down.

4.Now take soaked poha in a bowl and add potato, chopped onion, tomato, green chilies, fresh coriander, roasted peanuts, Lemon Sev (dry savoury snack), lemon juice, mint leaves powder, powdered sugar and salt as per taste.

5. Just give everything a quick mix and serve in individual bowls. Enjoy your quick, healthy, no oil snack.
